“DD” INNER VISION

(The Tao Te Ching) Achieve the state of a new-born child. Clear and purify inner vision.

A new-born child does not judge. A new-born child does not have resentments, hold grudges, point their anger at someone, choose to neglect another, turn away from love, nor choose fear as a rational decision. Everything a new-born child knows about being human is what they’ve been taught or shown. A new-born child has clear and purified vision because the dim light of fear has not entered their horizon yet. You too, regardless of age, can have the sight and viewpoint of a new-born child. All it takes is being reborn into a life where you choose not what appears best only to you but choose out of love what is best for the world around you, as well as what brings about more love in your life.

In order to clear and purify inner vision, choose love instead of fear. This requires a decision first, knowing what actions to take next, then choosing continuously to make the next right, the next best, the next most loving, and the next hard choice in the face of easy selfishness.

Early in sobriety, as life rapidly changed towards having more and more happiness present as a regularity, what increased joy was not the words of another, not the writing of another, it was actionable choices with a single question and intent for making them: what is the most loving thing to do now?

In AA, they say to make the next right decision. This is wisdom.

For me, I say to make the next most loving decision. This is wisdom through personal experience.

It’s easy for mankind, for you, for me, for whomever, to choose the easier lesser way through indulging in the baseless desires of flesh and lower mind – until it isn’t anymore. To see your current decisions are based primarily on the last decision you made is the key to understanding the immense truth found in the quote above.

A new-born child has a limited number of choices and motivations. As the world works to program the new-born into the toddler stage, then into childhood stages, then onto adolescence and early adulthood, suddenly the choices start multiplying at exponential rates. If one never stops to question why and how they’re making decisions, the adult is often left stranded on an island of self-pity, victimhood, and is continually motivated by selfishness.

To see the world anew through the eyes of a new-born and to have a clear and purified inner vision, one must start by seeing their thoughts as not their own, but of the world around them. You don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to stop being hypnotized by the word “mine.” Negative programming from childhood is built on lies and falsehoods, fears of others, and insecurities of many.

Choosing the next most loving thing, over and over again, creates clarity, and eventually purity.
